Chinese-okra also known as angled luffa, Vietnamese gourd, Taroi (in hindi) and silk squash is a long, ridged, dark green vegetables with tapering ends, grown on tropical and subtropical vines.
It is ideally 6 to 8 inches in length when harvested. It has a soft pulp and color is creamy white inside.
Commonly used in soups and stir-fried vegetables in China and Vietnam.
It's name Loofah comes from the use of it when fully dried. It becomes like a sponge which is used as loofah.
Nutritional Facts
It contains antioxidants, minerals, vitamins, nutrients and lipids. It is an excellent source of Vitamin A and carbohydrates. It is also a very good source of Vitamin B5, Manganese, Potassium, Copper, Total dietary fiber, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C and Magnesium.
It has health benefits like Bitter Melon. It is helpful to lower the blood sugar, reduce constipation, helps in weight loss, and prevents hypoglycemia, enhance immune system and detoxifies the body.
